Brandon Holstein, also known to his friends as Brawny was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and moved out to the San Francisco Bay Area when he was 18 years of age.  Since his parents did not allow him to have a motorcycle while living at home he bought his first bike when he moved out.  It was a 1988, 883 Kobalt Blue Harley Davidson Sportster.  “I was stoked!” said Brandon.  “Ever since than, I’ve always been into Sportsters.”  As a kid Brandon was always into motorcycles, he just couldn’t own one, so he would always ride his friends’ bikes.

A few years after he bought his first bike he had it shipped back to Hawaii.  Every Summer Brandon would go back to Hawaii.  During one summer while riding his Sportster to a job interview he got hit by an old man making an illegal left hand turn.  “I hit his quarter panel and flew over his car.”  The bike was totaled. After the insurance settlement and not having to work he began his first tear down of a motorcycle.  “I couldn’t work, so that’s when I tore it down and put it all back together in my parent’s garage with the help of Nelson (Kanno) and my friend Neil.  None of us knew anything about bikes at the time and I was the only one that had one.”  He also had help from Craig from Dreamers in Pearl City.  “He was probably the best parts guy on the island at the time.”
