Brandon got into fabrication because he wanted to change things and make them better. “I did it because I wanted to do things myself.” He began by reading old issues of Iron Horse. “I was always talking to Nelson, even though he still lived in Hawaii, about motorcycles. We had this thing that we had to build our own bike before we were 30, and we did.”
As the years went by, Brandon worked at various jobs before getting a phone call from Nelson, who by this time had moved to the mainland and was working at Chica’s in Huntington Beach, California. Nelson had told Brandon that Chica was interested in having him work there. Not having a job at the time and his fiancé, Tani, just graduating from San Jose State they picked up and moved to So. Cal. Brandon met Nelson and Chica out at the Sacremento Easyrider show and got the job. Although he worked there for a short period of time he learned a great deal. “A guy named Randy, who was a hell of a welder, Nelson, Jun, Scott (T-Bone), and Johnny Chop were all working there at the time. It was brief but I definitely learned plenty about the industry. It is one thing to be self taught and do things your own way in your garage because you just get a different view of how things go together.
